Samsung Galaxy Nexus volume bug fix will be here ‘next week’

The volume bug plaguing the latest and greatest Android powered phone, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, is going to be a thing of the past by next week, or so we hear.

SlashGear reports that next week, shops should be getting in new stock not plagued by the volume bug. The site was informed by a pre-order customer that Irish resellers will be getting fixed handsets in stock next week. He was told by a retailer, “The latest update is that Samsung is bringing new stock into Ireland and that it won’t be in until next week.”

Google owned up to the existence of a volume bug on the Galaxy Nexus, stating, “We are aware of the volume issue and have developed a fix. We will update devices as soon as possible.”

For those die-hard fans who got in early to grab a piece of the hardware/software harmony (or so they thought), we don’t know yet whether they will be offered refunds, exchanges, or any kind of software updates. The problem seems to be caused by the 900MHz 2G frequency band which is used by O2 and Vodafone, which is bad news if your on either, and to make things worse, Meteor and Three both piggyback on Vodafone depending on your location in the country. Its bad news for pretty much everyone here.

The Ice Cream Sandwich powered Galaxy Nexus isn’t the only new handset having troubles in its early days. Some of the iPhone 4S have experienced battery troubles after it’s launch. You’d expect more from these top-end brands.
