Rumours about Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pro are beginning to circulate and it literally “looks good”, thanks to a seriously high-resolution display.
This is the news from a DigiTimes report, which claims members in supply chains as its source. They reckon Apple’s next incarnation of the laptop-shaped powerhouse will pack a display capable of a resolution of 2,880×1,800!
In comparison, the current MacBook Pro offers a 1,280×800-pixel resolution for the 13-inch model, 1,440×900 on the 15-inch and 1,920×1,200 on the 17-inch. Increasing the resolution to 2,880×1,800 pixels would be a huge leap, and would push Apple ahead in next years laptop market.
We don’t know for sure if there’s much truth in the rumour. The question that comes to mind is whether Apple can produce a laptop with a display with a resolution that high, without slapping an extortionate price tag on the box.

Apple will need to stay keen as the laptop market is becoming more and more competitive and while Apple was almost considered to be in a market of its own in the past, the same is no longer the case. The fact is, more and more manufacturers are producing ultrabooks, thin, lightweight and stylish laptops that have plenty of umph on the performance side and battery life to go with it.
The rumours lead us to expect the MacBook Pro to launch between April and June. Other rumours suggest that we’ll see an 15-inch ultra thin version. Whichever does come to fruition, we’re looking forward to it!
