Amazon don’t usually reveal how well their sales are doing but they’ve broken their silence and revealed that the Amazon Kindle Fire and the new Amazon Kindle are selling like hot cakes! The online giant says they’ve sold no less than 3 million Kindles in the past three weeks.
So including the range of Kindle ebook readers and the Kindle Fire tablet, which is currently only available in the US, punters have shelled out for over a million Kindle devices for the third week in a row. Despite going on sale less than three months ago, the Kindle Fire Android tablet is the best-selling, most gifted, and most wished-for product out of Amazon’s entire range of products.
Bosses at Amazon don’t expect sales to slow down either saying, “We’ve already sold millions of units, and we’re building millions more to meet the high demand.”
Demand for the Kindle Fire is so high, thanks to its affordable price, which is so affordable that the word on the street is, Amazon are losing money on every unit sold and intend to make the money back via ebook, movie and music sales.
Unfortunately the Kindle Fire is only available in the US it’s rumoured to be crossing the pond as soon as January, but these rumours are likely to be no more than wishful thinking. The issue is really the content, not the device itself. The Kindle Fire is built around streaming music and movies and more, which are notoriously complicated to sort out licensing for in different countries.
Hopefully Amazon have learned a thing or two from the issues they came up against when bringing the original Kindle to our neck of the woods, it took years, but it’s here!
